“Has my baby missed the newborn stage”
“Is my baby too old for newborn photos now”
“Would you still be able to take photos of my baby please”
These are some of the questions that I get asked quite often, as parents worry their beautiful baby is now too old for newborn photos.
To all of these questions – my answer is always, please don’t worry.
It is never too late to capture your baby.
I completely understand where these questions come from, as photographers, even myself, advertise newborn photos are best suited between 7 and 21 days. This being said, it is not actually true.
The reason behind the newborn dates, is that when the little one is fresh in the world, they tend to sleep more and will curl up better in their photos, for those sleepy curled up shots (obviously all baby led). However, this does not mean older babies cannot be captured and have just as beautiful photos taken.
When your baby is older than the 3–4-week mark, they are becoming stronger and more alert. This means they may not want to sleep as long or not sleep at all and want to take in their surroundings.
Being a natural baby led photographer, my aim is to always work around you and your little one, so if they are older and awake, then that is what I will work with. I can get some beautiful photos of those big, lovely eyes and stretches. As well as some gorgeous wrapped up photos.
Please do not worry and feel you have missed the newborn window if your little one is over the 3–4-week stage. We can still get you booked in.
