Phoebe and her mum and dad joined me in my home studio for Phoebe's first birthday cake smash session in August.
We were a little unsure hoe Phoebe would react to her cake smash as she hadn't really tried cake before and with the session also taking place early evening, there would be a good chance Phoebe would be tired.
As I always do with all the smash sessions, we started off with some clean photos, followed by photos with a fake cake, to try and show the little ones they can play with what is in front of them, then we moved on to the main event of the real cake.
During the real cake, Phoebe was a little unsure about the feel and taste of it, so mum helped her out by showing it was absolutely fine to eat it. But this didn't fully work, so dad had an idea of using some of Phoebe's favourite food and sticking it in to the cake, to encourage Phoebe to dig in.
It was safe to say Phoebe is a very bright little girl as she turned the food around do she could eat the part that hadn't been placed in to the cake.
At the end of the session, I always give the opportunity for parents / carers to have a quick photo with the little one as well, as this always cheers up the children. It also gives the family the chance to grab a nice family photo for the memory box.
