Surprise Wedding Doncaster
Chris and Lucy decided to have a wedding with a difference. They wanted to keep it small with only a select few people attending, followed by an evening celebration that there unsuspecting guests thought were a 40th Birthday party.
The only people that knew they were getting married was myself and them. The day before the wedding they spoke to a couple of friends and family members to let them know of their plans and to ask them to attend the wedding. I felt so privileged that I was one of the lucky ones that knew the full details of the day.
On the day of the wedding, I met Chris and Lucy at the #MansionHouseDoncaster for their wedding ceremony. If you haven't seen this place, please do take a look, the kitchen is beautiful with access to a court yard for the wedding photos afterwards. After the ceremony and formal photos I had a couple of hours break before the fun really started.
In the evening I met the couple back at #RegentHotel for their evening of celebrations. Once I arrived there was still some setting up to do, as the decorators for the party also thought it was a 40th birthday party as they were friends of the couple. Once I had sorted my camera settings, I helped them with the decorations (not just a photographer, I will help where I can). Then it was time for the fun to begin.
As the guests started to arrive, it did take some of them a little while to understand what had happened, even some of the guests walked by the hotel as they thought they were at the wrong venue for a wedding haha. As the guests arrived I was armed with my camera to capture their shocked / surprised faces.
It was so much fun doing a wedding this way as it gives you as the photographer so much scope to capture the unexpected, and it was safe to say many of the guests were not expecting a wedding reception that evening.
